Homecoming is a beginning for both of you. Before the day arrives, talk with the maison about the kitten’s familiar food, routines and care, and plan the transition together.
A quiet first chapter.
Prepare a quiet room with the essentials before your kitten arrives: a comfortable bed, a hiding place, a litter tray, food, water and suitable toys. Keep food, water and the litter area separate, and give your kitten time to explore at their own pace.
Carry the familiar forward.
Ask which food and litter the kitten is used to and whether a familiar blanket can come home with them. Agree on the records you will receive and the practical arrangements for collection.
Let the relationship unfold.
Keep early introductions calm and allow your kitten to approach you. Bring questions about their adjustment to the maison, and discuss individual health concerns with your veterinarian.
